King of trolls Najib is at it again. Yesterday in a Facebook posting he wrote the below,
“The media is good. They are willing to find the truth. (Referring to The Malay Mail Online’s enquiry to Nottingham University). Why is PH not willing to do so? Does PH not have email? They do not know how to use telephone? Or they just use Wechat? They don’t use Wechat in the UK.”
Let me remind Najib that the controversy and the public doubt surrounding him not sitting for his final exams and completing his degree in 1974 didn’t surface yesterday but for quite a long time.
On 20 April 2017, The Sarawak Report published an investigative report and requested Najib to authorize the release of his degree record after failed attempts to verify Najib’s degree with the university.
The report is quoted as below.
Thus is was that when Sarawak Report rang Nottingham University to enquire about its register of degree results it was informed that this is now privileged information owing to the University’s interpretation of the data protection laws.
According to the clerks at Nottingham University they have a procedure for ‘genuine enquries’, to help for example employers, who might like to check that someone claiming to be a qualified doctor or a civil engineer, perhaps, is genuine. In such cases, if (and only if) the stated degree holder is agreeable, the University is willing to provide a form, which the claimed degree holder must sign before the University will release the information to the specific person who has been authorised to receive it.
However, Najib turn a deaf ear to Sarawak Report request. He chose to ignore and let the speculation and public doubt on his degree to continue. Therefore, it is mischievous for Najib to now accuse PH for not verifying the information with the University. It was Najib who refused to sign off the form to authorize the University to release his degree record.
Najib also said in his Facebook posting that he has written to the university to request a replacement of his degree certificate which he would post on Facebook upon receiving it in a week. Let me remind Najib that he needs to produce his Exam Transcript and Degree Certificate in 1974, not the Honorary Degree he received from Nottingham University in 2004.
Najib also changed his Facebook profile photo to his graduation photo which was rightly pointed out by many netizens that the photo was taken in 2004 when he was awarded the Honorary Degree by Nottingham University. Didn’t Najib have any graduation or convocation photo taken when he graduated in 1974?
Though Najib’s credibility has been shattered in the RM42 Billion 1MDB scandal by making numerous statements which are contradictory, I am prepared to give him the benefit of doubt and wait for a week for him to upload his copy of Exam Transcript and Degree Certificate. But it has to be the one he obtained in 1974, not 2004.
