Call for the Kelantan Government to lift the ban on Wayang Kulit and Mak Yong which is a UNESCO heritage. Will the ban be extended to states like Terengganu and Pahang where UMNO and PAS now form an alliance and exploring the forming of a unity government?

I call for the Kelantan Government to lift the ban on Wayang Kulit and Mak Yong and other traditional artistic cultural performance. The move to ban these cultural rich performance shows that that the Kelantan government is intolerant against multi religious and multi-cultural practices.

The Wayang Kulit and Mak Yong are one of the oldest cultural performance in the world that should be celebrated, preserved and appreciated, it should be passed on to future generations. The Mak Yong dance is also the oldest traditional dance in kelantan and also recognise by UNESCO as world heritage.

The Kelantan government has previously said that Wayang Kulit and Mak Yong can be performed in other states.

With UMNO and PAS now forming an alliance and exploring the forming of a unity government, will the ban of Wayang Kulit and Mak Yong be extended to Terengganu and Pahang where UMNO and PAS holds the majority of the state seats?

MCA and MIC must also state their stand clearly in this ban since they are now in same coalition with UMNO who has formed an alliance with PAS.

Should The PAS-UMNO-MCA-MIC(PUMM) alliance win federal power in the next election, will there be a national blanket ban on Wayang Kulit and Mak Yong where Wayang Kulit and Mak Yong will no longer be allowed to perform and Malaysians will no longer be able to see this performance?

The threat of PAS-UMNO-MCA-MIC(PUMM) alliance to a multi-racial, multi religious and multi-cultural Malaysia is real. If MCA and MIC is not able to stand up against UMNO in the last 61 years for dominating and dictating national policies, it is almost certain that MCA and MIC who are now at their weakest point in history will again bow to UMNO and PAS extreme and intolerant demands.
