UMNO’s despicable attempt to racialise the Kangkung fiasco is an attempt to divert attention and silent Malaysians who are concerned with the never ending rising cost of living

UMNO’s despicable attempt to turn the Kangkung fiasco into a racial issue must be condemn by all right thinking Malaysians. This is a politically irresponsible attempt from UMNO to stir up racial issue, to divert people’s attention and to silent Malaysians who are concerned with the never ending rising cost of living in Malaysia.

The Kangkung fiasco shows that the Najib administration has lost touch with the ground where ordinary Malaysians face severe financial hardship following the continuous price hike of several essential goods. The rising cost of living is a problem that cuts across all races in Malaysia. UMNO’s attempt to turn the Kangkung fiasco into a racial issue shows that UMNO no longer champions the people’s right and is prepare to racialise any issue of public interest just to gain political mileage.

Kangkung has not only received international coverage for the past three days but has also achieved a symbolic status in Malaysia. Firstly, the Kangkung symbolises the the public anger of Malaysians against the never ending rising cost of living. Secondly, the Kangkung symbolises Najib incapability, inaction and powerless when it comes to tackling the rising cost of living. Thirdly, the Kangkung symbolises Najib attempt to ridicule, deny and dismiss the rising cost of living in Malaysia.

Is Najib currently living in a different Malaysia that he could see no burden of the people, feel no pain of the people and hear no complaints from the people on the never ending rising cost of living? Why do ordinary Malaysians have to tighten their belt due to BN mismanagement and lavish spending while BN top officers continue their extravaganza overseas trip?

There is only one man that could stop the Kangkung fiasco, which is Najib himself. Would Najib finally step up and tackle the core issue of price hike which is of great concern to all Malaysians?
